| To some people, music is
just something that they listen to while in the car or turn the
radio on as something to break the silence.
Music does this for me as well, but my enjoyment
of music goes deeper than that. I have a fairly diverse CD
collection, ranging from bands like Dave Matthews, Vertical
Horizon, and the Counting Crows to Jazz albums to Classical to,
I'll even admit to owning both Eminem albums. For my current
CD list, click here,
it's sorted by artist at present, but someday will be searchable I
promise.
Aside from a collection of CDs, I used to
collect Dave Matthews and Phish bootleg tapes, although not so
much anymore. I still love going to concerts, and have been
known to take a road trip to attend them. Although my
favorite concert experiences are definitely tailgating in Hartford
at the Meadows Music Theatre, because it's only 30 minutes from my
home in Longmeadow, MA. Here's a link to some pics from the
Dave Matthews Show in Hartford this past summer, August
26, 2000.
On the slate for the coming month:
Dispatch and Fighting Gravity at Irving Plaza, NYC, on February
24th...tentative....
Vertical Horizon, Sister Hazel, and Pat McGee at
the Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC, on February 23rd
Barenaked Ladies at the Mullins Center at UMass,
February 16th |
No, Emeril isn't my idol, I promise,
although he is pretty cool. I first became interested in
cooking my last two years in high school, when Erik would make me
help him cook for dinner parties we'd throw for our friends.
Maybe it was a little ridiculous to
do that type of thing in high school, but we didn't really have a
problem with it, and they were always fun. I was always
impressed with how well the food turned out, and decided that it'd
be a lot of fun and a cool way to impress people if you could feed
them well without having to try too hard!
That said, with helpful birthday
presents including the "Joy of Cooking" as well as a
really sharp couple of Wusthof cooking knives, I've headed further
down the path to chef-hood. I'm still far from a gourmet chef,
but can turn out a pretty decent chicken fajita, spinach gnocchi,
chicken or fish dish without too much trouble. I've recently
made the step into the soup world, and hopefully will be making
sushi before too long. :-)
Soon, I'll post some of my favorite
recipes here as well, but in the meantime, check out some recipes
from cooking.com. |
Okay, before you all go on
thinking that my life revolves around computers, let me set the record
straight a little bit. I am not a full-fledged programmer, but
computers play a very important role in my lifestyle. Do I work with
computers and understand them better than the average person, I would like
to think so. Instead of "Computers", though, this
should really be the "Digital Life" section of my website I guess.
I love ordering toys, tools, books, take-out online, you
name it. I buy books at half.com and
Amazon, and bought my new stereo
recently at auction on Ubid.com. I
check email religiously simply because it can be a very efficient means of
communicating with people who you might not otherwise talk to, and it's a
cheap way to keep in touch with those you otherwise would seldom speak with.
Do I program? A little bit. I'm also going
into E-business consulting when I graduate, so infer what you will from
that. However, should anyone want to discuss anything digital, shoot
me an email!

While you won't see me staggering down the street
with a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag anytime soon, I do have a great
affinity for wine. I'm far from considering myself a connoisseur by
any means, but I would like to think that I've tried a decent array of wine,
and am always looking for new, albeit not very expensive, bottles to
try. Hopefully as my technical skills improve, I'll be able to put up
an interactive wine-recommendation list, where people can read what has been
reviewed, and add their own comments. In the meantime, however, if you
have any suggestions for bottles that I have to try, please just email
them to me! |
